CEDARTOWN – The season has come to a close for the LaGrange Lady Grangers, who lost to Cartersville 51-46 on Monday in the Region 5-AAAA tournament.

It was the final game for LaGrange’s three seniors, Kamelah Kelley, Chaquave’ayr Robinson and Madison Coverson.

Two of those players, Robinson and Kelley, made the all-region team, and they led the team in scoring on Monday with 16 points and 13 points, respectively.

Trailing by one point at the half, Cartersville outscored LaGrange 19-11 in the second quarter to surge ahead.

LaGrange kept it close in the fourth quarter, but Cartersville held on for the home win.

Cartersville plays third-seeded Sandy Creek on Wednesday with a berth in the semifinals on the line.

The unbeaten Troup Lady Tigers are the number one seed in the region tournament, and they won’t play until the semifinals on Friday.

Troup (22-0), which finished off a perfect regular season with a road win over Cartersville on Saturday, will play either Cedartown or Chapel Hill on Friday at 6 p.m. at Sandy Creek.

If Troup wins that game, it will play for the region championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Sandy Creek.

Troup lost in the region-championship game last season.

Troup has already qualified for the state tournament.
