A LaGrange woman was arrested on auto theft charges Sunday evening.

According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, Crystal Carothers was arrested and charged with theft by taking auto and taken to Troup County Jail.

LPD officers were dispatched to 318 South Greenwood Street in reference to a stolen vehicle that had just occurred around 8:29 p.m. At that point, all surrounding law enforcement agencies were made aware of the stolen vehicle.

A few minutes later, at 8:58 p.m., Troup County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified of a call for service on Rocky Point Drive at 8:58 p.m. Once on scene, deputies located Carothers in the vehicle belonging to the victim. The vehicle was returned to the victim at the scene, according to the press release.
