Sweetland Amphitheater has announced its first nine concerts of the 2020 season.

This is the amphitheater’s fifth concert season, presented by Kia Motors.

The concert series kicks off with The Black Jacket Symphony Presents: Led Zeppelin IV on March 27. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the gates open at 7 p.m.

Led Zeppelin IV was the fourth album released by Zeppelin in 1971, which had the band’s notable song “Stairway to Heaven.” The album also was Zeppelin’s best-selling record, shipping more than 37 million copies worldwide.

The series continues with one of the more recognizable names on the concert series — Styx on April 18.

Styx rose to popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s with several songs that reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The next show will be the following weekend on April 25 with Bethel Music, which is a worship ministry that formed an extension of Bethel Church Redding, California. According to the Sweetland website, throughout the past seven years, Bethel Music has grown from being a local church music ministry to becoming a global outreach featuring a cadre of songwriters and worship leaders, with both online and on-campus worship schools.

On May 2, Sweetland will present Bow Ties and Pearls: an Evening of R&B and Soul. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the music will last from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The acts lined up for the show include Soul Therapy, a local LaGrange band, Kemistry and King Ellis and PR Experience, who have opened for several R&B artists in the Atlanta area for more than 20 years.

On May 8, 14-time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award recipient, Emmylou Harris, will take the stage. According to the Sweetland website, she has been in the music industry for more than 40 years and record more than 25 albums. Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2018.

Harris will be accompanied by special guest Mandolin Orange, who is a North Carolina Duo.

Switching back to R&B on May 17, North Carolina native Fantasia will perform. In 2004, she won the television show “American Idol,” and went on to have a No. 1 hit single “I Believe” on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Fantasia has nine Grammy Awards nominations and one Grammy Award win in 2011 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Bittersweet.”

On May 22, Contemporary Christian artist Amy Grant will take the stage. Grant rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s with a crossover of Christian music to pop music. According to her website, Grant has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, won six Grammy Awards and had first Christian album to go platinum, meaning it sold more than a million copies in the U.S.

On Friday, Sweetland announced three more shows, headlined by county music artist Travis Tritt on June 11. Yacht Rock Revue will perform on June 20, and For King & Country were also added to the series for June 28.

Tritt is known for country songs “Help Me Hold On,” “Foolish Pride,” “Anymore,” “Can I Trust you with my Heart,” and “Best of Intentions,” which all reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts. 

Yacht Rock Revue focuses on music from the 70s and 80s and is making a return to Sweetland after playing at the venue in June of 2019. For King & Country is a Christian pop duo that has had five songs hit No. 1 on the Christian charts — “Priceless,” “Shoulders,” “Joy,” “God Only Knows,” and “Burn the Ships.”

Sweetland will announce more lineups later this year.

Tickets for the concerts other than Tritt, Yacht Rock Revue and For King & Country, are on sale now at sweetland.events.

Membership enrollment is going on starting Friday at 2 p.m. until Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.

Concert tickets for members will be on sale from Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. through Feb. 27 at 11:55 p.m. for the shows added Friday. Concert tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
