Bartley, a Troup High graduate who went on to enjoy an exceptional career leading the women’s basketball program at Fort Valley State, will be inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Bartley, who graduated from Troup in 1976, was a three-sport standout in high school in basketball, football and track and field.

Later, Bartley took over the women’s program at Fort Valley State, and by the time he retired in 2017, he had a career record of 652-258.

Bartley is one of the winningest coaches in Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) history, and he is the all-time wins leader at Fort Valley State.

During his tenure at Fort Valley, Bartley was named the SIAC coach of the year 10 times, and his teams had 27 consecutive winning seasons.

Bartley was inducted into the National Black College Hall of Fame in 2011.

Bartley will be inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame along with Gary Colson, Eddie Lee Ivery, Kelley O’Hera, Adrian Peterson, Bobby Pope and Jeff Treadway.
