Multiple local artists were chosen to exhibit their art on display at LaGrange Art Museums bi-annual competition.  The LaGrange Southeast Regional chose 136 pieces of artwork from almost 700 submissions to be on display at both the LaGrange Art Museum and LaGrange College’s Lamar Dodd Art Center.

For the first time, LaGrange had its largest representation at the competition. Additionally, the juror process was a blind process, so they only saw the art and no other personal information about the artist.

This is a testament to local artists and the art community as a whole.

Not only were local artists chosen to be featured in a large competition with hundreds of other entries, but they also have the chance for their art to be purchased by art enthusiasts and the art museum.

The Callaway Foundation gives $10,000 to both the LaGrange Art Museum and LaGrange College’s Lamar Dodd Art Center to buy art from the show.

This exhibition started with the LaGrange National Competition in 1967.

The art museum also deserves a lot of credit for putting on such a prestigious exhibit each year.

We hope locals in the community take a chance to walk through the exhibit at both locations.

The artwork will be on display and for sale at both locations until April 18.

It is always an exciting time to see locals from Troup County excel in any type of competition.

Congratulations to the artists, who were chosen to have their art featured for the show. We hope to see even more artists interested in competing in this competition and others like it in years ahead.
