On Sunday morning, the LaGrange Police Department made several arrests after investigating multiple neighborhoods where mail and packages were reported stolen.

According to Det. Brian Brown, after investigating the theft in areas of Lakeshore Drive, Piney Woods Drive and Country Club Drive, police discovered five suspects that had driven through the neighborhood and stolen mail and packages from multiple mailboxes.

Kimberly Towler, 34, Dontes Delaney, 18, Isacc Spradlin, 18, and two other juveniles were arrested in the case

“We have charged them with theft by taking, but are in the process of determining how many additional charges there may be,” Brown said. “We have not determined how many homes were affected yet.”

Detectives conducted a search of the suspects’ home and recovered a significant amount of stolen mail and property dating as far back as August 2019.

“Once we get it all sorted and figure out who it belongs to and where they live, we do plan on returning it to them,” Brown said.

“We suggest that if anyone feels like they’ve been a victim to go ahead and check their credit through the three credit bureaus. Check for any unauthorized charges.”

Brown said that if there are any unauthorized charges or fraudulent activity, to follow the credit bureaus website’s procedure on how to challenge them.

“Hopefully we will have this all processed in the next day or two and figure out the number of victims we have,” Brown said.

Brown said that residents who believe they are victims of a mailbox theft can contact LPD at (706) 883-2603. Victims can also contact the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 883-1616 to report the incident.
