Cougars enjoy big offensive day

The Lafayette Christian School Cougars overpowered Community Christian 18-10 on Monday afternoon in an offensive slug-fest.

The teams combined for 32 hits and nearly 30 runs, and it was the Cougars breaking it open with nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Cougars, who won a Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state championship last season, were in a 7-3 hole after the second inning.

The Cougars tied it with four runs in the fourth inning, and they exploded for nine runs in their half of the fifth inning.

Eight different Lafayette Christian School players had a hit, and six Cougars had multi-hit games.

One of the Cougars who had a big day at the plate was Cason Firth, who hit the team’s lone home run.

Firth finished with three hits and two walks, and he had three RBIs and four runs scored.

Adam Barnett had four hits and an RBI, and Brock Tumlin had three hits and an RBI.

Devin Lindsey had three hits with four RBIs from the number nine spot in the order, and leadoff hitter
