Panthers sweep doubleheader

LaGrange College’s softball team had no trouble with Judson (Ala.) on Saturday in easing to the doubleheader sweep.

The Panthers won the opening game 11-0, and they finished the sweep with an 8-0 victory to win their third straight and improve to 5-3.

The Panthers enjoyed an offensive explosion with 13 hits, and they scored nine runs in the first two innings.

Riley Densmore had a three-run home run for the Panthers, and she had two hits.

Abbey Gardner had two hits and four RBIs, and Kaitlin Redman had two hits and two RBIs.

Hailey Jones had an RBI triple, and Taylor Long, Landon DeLamar, Elizabeth Smith and McKenzie Brunel each had one hit.

Abbey Gardner held Judson to four hits in five shutout innings to get the win.

JUDSON 0

Payton Thomas pitched a six-inning one-hitter as the Panthers completed the sweep.

LaGrange College scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the run rule into play.

Taylor Long had two hits and two RBIs with three runs scored, Brittany Todd had two hits and an RBI, and Payton Thomas had a double and two RBIs.

Abbey Gardner added a hit and an RBI, McKenzie Brunel had two hits, and Hailey Jones, Riley Densmore and Rebekah Hobson each had a hit.
