Harold D. Melton, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, declared a Statewide Judicial Emergency in the State of Georgia on Saturday, affecting all courts and clerk’s offices in the state as it relates to all judicial proceedings.

Due to this order, non-essential court functions have been suspended for Troup County, effective Monday. 

According to a press release from Troup County, citizens who currently have scheduled proceedings are to consult with their attorneys before reporting to the Troup County Government Center. 

Anyone in the community who may not have an attorney can consult the chambers of the judge assigned to the case for further direction.

All non-essential court is postponed until after April 13 and all cases will be re-noticed for a later court date. For additional questions, the District Attorney’s Office, the Troup County Solicitor’s Office, the Troup County Clerk of Court’s Office, Troup County Court Services or the Judge’s Chambers will be available to answer questions related to the postponed court functions during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
