Some local banks have taken the extra precautions in the efforts to protect the health of their employees and customers.

Colony Bank closed its lobbies and is servicing customers through drive-thru locations only. Some proactive steps Colony Bank said it is taking to keep team members and customers safe are:

• Ensuring that the branches, including ATM screens and keypads, are routinely cleaned with EPA-approved disinfectants
• Team members have been provided with up-to-date information on how to stay healthy and how to avoid illness through proper hygiene practices
• Team members are instructed to stay home when they are not feeling well.

Colony Bank Marketing Manager Courtney Crews also said that the bank has also just assembled a cross-functional team to frequently meet to review, monitor and adjust operations as the situation changes to ensure the continuation of critical business functions.

“Please be reassured that Colony Bank is taking the necessary steps to avoid potential disruptions of service to our customers,” Mike Speight, Market President of Colony Bank’s LaGrange location said. “We continue to monitor the situation using information from trusted sources, including the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organizations (WHO), banking agencies/regulators and state/local health agencies. As always, our customers, our communities and our team members are our priority.”

Renasant Bank released a press release on its website that states it has implemented the following actions at its branches:

• Reinforced healthy habits and encouraged employees to closely monitor their health and well-being;
• Provided guidance with regards to travel, in-person meetings and events;
• Encouraged the use of “social distancing” and collaborative meeting tools; and
• Implemented temporary “no handshake” and “no hug” greetings.

Banks are recommending using any available online payment options that are offered, such as Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Masterpass and more. Direct deposit, mobile deposit and ATMs are also another way to utilize banking services while practicing social distancing.
