Interface closed its Troup County manufacturing operations this past Monday, and will reopen Monday, April 13.

“At Interface, we are closely monitoring the developments related to COVID-19, and our top priority continues to be the health and wellness of our employees and the community,” a statement from Interface said. “We remain focused on promoting responsible social distancing, reducing the opportunity for transmission, and protecting the health of our team members.”

The statement said Interface is considered essential critical infrastructure through Gov. Brian Kemp’s executive order and is permitted to operate under the statewide shelter-in-place order.

“In addition, many of Interface’s customers also provide essential services, such as healthcare facilities, hospitals, senior living facilities, and retail pharmacies,” the statement said.

Interface will continue to ship from its warehouses and distribution centers throughout North America. The statement said the company doesn’t expect the temporary closure to have any significant impact on its customers.

“When we reopen on April 13, we will continue to observe social distancing and other preventive measures, including increased cleaning schedules, adjusted shift change processes, and safe hygiene practices,” the statement said. “We will also provide gloves and masks whenever possible. Our production facility leaders are continuously evaluating these actions and adapting protocols when we identify opportunities to improve.”

Interface said as the COVID-19 situation evolves, the company is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of its employees while also delivering its products, especially for those in the healthcare industry.

On March 18, an Interface employee at the company’s facility in West Point tested positive for COVID-19. At that time, the West Point and LaGrange facilities were closed.
