In response to the economic challenges presented by COVID-19 and in response to the way readers are consuming news, The LaGrange Daily News will begin publishing two print editions each week — on Wednesday and Saturday.

On other days — Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the LDN will continue to produce a digital e-edition, which will be available on its website. The e-edition is a digital replica of the newspaper.

The LDN has seen record traffic on its newspaper website over the last month as well as new print subscribers, but like other newspapers across the country, has been affected by severe decreases in advertising revenue as non-essential businesses are closed and events that normally take place are canceled.

“Keeping our community informed remains our top priority,” said LaGrange Daily News Publisher Daniel Evans. “Despite these changes in frequency, we will be working just as hard to report the news and will be reporting the same amount of news — or more — via our e-edition and print editions. Over the last 30 days, we’ve seen more than double our normal web traffic, which proves that readers are consuming our content in a digital format more than any time before now. Reducing our print frequency allows us to meet readers where they are consuming news.”

A print edition of The LaGrange Daily News will still be available on Wednesday and Saturday with increased pages in each issue. Print and e-edition subscribers will receive the newspaper in their mailboxes or email inboxes on these days.

The cost of a subscription will remain the same, and the cost of a single copy of the newspaper will remain the same. The LDN costs 50 cents on Wednesdays and $1.50 on Saturdays. An online subscription costs $9.63 per month and an annual subscription costs $96.30.

A full subscription, with e-edition access and home-delivery print editions on Wednesday and Sunday, costs $10.43 a month and $125.19 a year.

“We take our jobs very seriously and understand the role we play in reporting on this worldwide pandemic, which is having a large effect on LaGrange and Troup County,” Evans said. “During these uncertain times, we are as committed as ever to providing top-notch coverage and appreciate your trust and support in The LaGrange Daily News.”
