Drew Duram, a senior on the Point University track-and-field team, has been honored by the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Duram, a Troup High graduate, is Point’s recipient of the conference’s Champions of Character Award.

Also, Troup graduate Mekae Moon, was a member of the conference’s all-academic team.

Duram was a four-year member of the Point cross-country and track-and-field teams, and his final competition was on March 7 in Columbus before the remainder of the season was canceled because of the coronavirus.

Duram placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run at the Columbus meet with a time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds.

In his final cross-country race in November, Duram set a personal-record with a time of 28:06 on the eight-kilometer course, and he was 49th in the conference championship.

Like Duram, Moon ran cross country and competed in track and field for Point during her junior season.

Moon finished 70th and had a personal-best time at the cross-country conference championship.
