It was tough going in Region 5-AAAA for the LaGrange Grangers.

The Grangers won their first game as a member of the region in 2016, but they’ve come up empty in every region game since then.

Since beating Central-Carroll 30-12 in September of 2016, LaGrange has lost 23 consecutive region games.

LaGrange is hoping life in a new region will bring some better results.

LaGrange will be a part of Region 2-AAAA that includes Troup as well as six teams from Columbus.

The Grangers will play eight region games, and their goal is to finish fourth or higher and earn a spot in the state playoffs.

LaGrange hasn’t qualified for the state playoffs since 2014 when it was third in Region 1-AAAAA.

Last season, LaGrange (2-8 overall) went 0-6 in the region for the third consecutive season.

After a preseason game at Harris County on Aug. 14, LaGrange will play Upson-Lee and Northside-Columbus before beginning region play on Sept. 11 at Columbus.

After another road game against Kendrick, LaGrange will be at Callaway Stadium for five of its final six regular-season games, and that includes a showdown against Troup on Oct. 30.

Here is LaGrange’s 2020 schedule:

Aug. 14 – LaGrange at Harris County (preseason game)
