Mary Helen Dixon — 1935-2020

Mrs. Mary Helen Dixon passed away, April 15, 2020, at her home.

She was born Jan. 8, 1935, at Wares Crossroads in LaGrange, to the late Razz Edmondson, Sr. and Martha Zackery Edmondson.

Mrs. Dixon was a domestic worker until her retirement and a homemaker all of her life. She started her family at an early age, and she was an extremely dedicated mother. She was a wonderful storyteller, and almost every day, she shared the childhood adventures

that she, her sister, and her brother had experienced when they lived in the country. Her most cherished experiences were having had received her early education at Smyrna Baptist Church at Wares Crossroads when it was a school, her becoming a queen’s attendant at

East Depot High, and her earning the Lifetime Membership Award from Smyrna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Willie Dixon Sr; son, Myron Kenneth Dixon; brother, Razz Edmondson Jr; and sister, Pastor Jessie Edmondson Stenson.

She is survived by daughters, Janice Dixon (Butch) Ussery, West Point and Emily Dixon (Alvin) McKenzie, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; sons, Jimmy Dixon, Bennie Willie Dixon, Jr, and Troy Dixon, LaGrange; grandchildren, Justin McKenzie, San Diego, California; Fatima Mckenzie, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Myron (Ashley) Dixon, Jr, and Alicia Harrison of LaGrange; Tomeka Hopson, Round Rock, Texas; a special niece, Telesa Edmondson Bankston, Norcross; sister-in-law, Mary Edmondson, LaGrange and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
