DR. GEORGE EDWARD STEFENELLI

1948-2020

Dr. George Edward Stefenelli, 71 of Grandview, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at St. Joseph Medical Center.  

Cremation is planned with a private family service to be held at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri, 64055.  The family suggests donations in his name to the March of Dimes.  

He was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to George E. and AnneMarie (Mandel) Stefenelli Sr., and spent his early life in the Brooklyn area.  He had worked as a doctor as an OBGYN for many years in several areas and retired from WellStar at West Georgia in LaGrange in 2018, and re located to Grandview, Missouri.  Throughout his career he delivered over 10,000 babies and was very proud of that accomplishment. He was a veteran of Vietnam having proudly served as a Staff Sargent in the Marine Corp. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit and had served as a member and church elder in the Lloyd’s Presbyterian church in LaGrange.  

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Rosemary Stefenelli of the home; four children, Stephanie Wisniewski and husband Eric of Hanover, MD, Rory Aughinbaugh and husband Timothy of Kansas City, Missouri, SSgt. George F. Stefenelli and wife Peggy stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington and Samantha Stefenelli of Grandview, Missouri; two brothers, Mark Stefenelli and wife Rebecca of Sarasota, Florida and Ronald Stefenelli and wife Doris of Long Island, New York; two sisters, Nancy Miller of Murphysboro, Illinois, and Peggy Loscalzo and husband James of Wading River, New York and eight grandchildren, Zachary, Allison, Rosario, Ethan, Owen, Sophia, Alexandra and Isabella.
