A man died Monday after his car hit a dump truck head-on on Georgia 109 near the Troup/Meriwether County line.

The vehicle Dave Woodruff, 52, was driving crossed the center line, according to Corp. Jason McClung with Georgia State Patrol. GSP responded to the scene at 12:23 p.m.

Woodruff was taken to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center where he was declared deceased. McClung said physical evidence indicates Woodruff was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

The driver of the dump truck, a 68-year-old man from Thomaston, was taken for medical care but had non-life-threatening injuries.
