The LaGrange College Leadership Council recently welcomed six new members under new President Lauranne Buchanan, according to a news release from the college.

According to the news release, the council strives to engage the community and alumni in a meaningful way, support projects that advance the college’s strategic vision and provide a source of financial support for the institution.

The new members include:

• Joe Franklin, the maintenance planner for Kimberly Clark in LaGrange, serves on the Troup County School System Board of Education and the American Cancer Society Leadership Council.
• Noel Hunter of Decatur has worked for Emory Healthcare in positions ranging from bedside nurse to corporate administrator. She is the corporate director for Emory Healthcare Access and Transfer Service. Hunter holds four degrees from LaGrange, including a B.S. in Nursing and a master’s in Business Administration.
• Eric Mosley, Troup County manager, previously worked as a forest ranger and emergency manager for FEMA.  He graduated from Toccoa Falls College and has a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of South Carolina.
• Eric Simpson is from West Point and a 1993 graduate of LaGrange College. He is the owner/operator of the West Georgia Co-op of farmers. He is also the chairman of the Kwanzaa Celebration in West Georgia.
• In 2005, Andrew Wilson joined National Management Resources Corp. as the company’s risk manager and is now president. Prior to National, he worked in the insurance and the specialty chemical industries. He studied environmental science at the University of Georgia.
• Gerald Wyatt is the CEO of THINC Academy. He spent 30 years in finance and human resources for companies including Exxon-Mobil and Synovus. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and certification from the Society of Human Resources Management.

According to the news release, this year’s priorities for the council include exploring how to work with Visit LaGrange; conducting an economic impact study to document the college’s contributions to the city and county; and proposing next steps in the college’s focus on water issues, especially the gift from Arthur Vining Davis Foundation for the Chattahoochee River research program and the ongoing partnership with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
