Troup County announced Thursday that the annual Fourth of July Fireworks show event, presented by Troup County Parks and Recreation, has been postponed to Saturday, August 8, 2020.

According to a press release from the county, the event was canceled due to continuing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) precautions and restrictions put in place by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

“While county officials understand that this delay may come as a disappointment to many of those within our community, the decision was made in order to prioritize the safety and well-being of our public,” the news release said. “Nonetheless, the county is excited to host the rescheduled event, which will serve as a back-to-school kick-off as a way to wish all students, teachers and families well during the upcoming school year.”

The county will offer its traditional July 4 activities during the Pyne Road Park celebration in August. Admission entry will be $10 per vehicle.

The event will be sponsored by Jackson Services.

The fireworks show will begin at dark at Pyne Road Park located at 4481 Roanoke Road.
