Tyrone Poole, a LaGrange High graduate who won a pair of Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, is one of the nominees for the College Football Hall of Fame’s class of 2021.

Poole was a standout in football and track and field at Fort Valley State from 1991 to 1994.

In football, Poole was a four-year starter at defensive back, and he finished his collegiate career with 17 interceptions, four of which he returned for touchdowns, while averaging more than 13 yards on punt returns with two scores.

Poole also excelled in track and field, and he once finished second in the country in the 200-meter dash.

Poole was selected in the first round of the 1995 draft by the Carolina Panthers, and his final season in the NFL came in 2008 when he was 38-years-old.

Poole had 18 career interceptions, and six of them came in 2003 when he helped the New England Patriots win a Super Bowl.

Poole helped the Patriots win another Super Bowl in 2004.

After being picked 22nd in the first round in 1995, Poole spent three seasons with the Panthers before playing for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 to 2000.

Poole retired following the 2000 season, but he returned to the game in 2002 and played for the Denver Broncos.

Poole was with the Patriots from 2003 to 2005, and he played for Oakland in 2006 and Tennessee in 2008.

Poole, who lives in Atlanta, has remained active since retiring as an author, speaker and entrepreneur.

Poole is also active in various charities through his 38 Foundation.
