MaryJane Scott grew up in Hogansville and constantly visited her grandmother’s fabric shop in downtown. Now, she’s moved her boutique and photography business a few shops down from where her grandmother’s old shop stood.

Scott opened up Dragonfly Restyling Boutique on Saturday morning, which also includes her boudoir photography studio in the back.

“The front of the store is going to be like a thrift store type thing, but we also have boutique items and like-new items,” Scott said. “We are going to do a presale for items. We will also have boutique clothes for children.”

Each percentage of the sales each month will go to Celebrate Recovery out of First Baptist Church in Hogansville.

“Our heart is for substance abuse and battered women,” Scott said. “We are also going to be teaming up with counselors to help reach out to the community as well.”

Since 2009 Scott has been running her photography business MSaye Photography + MSB where she not only does boudoir but also photographs senior, children, maternity and wedding portraits.

“This is where my roots are and I wanted to grow my business here in the middle of Hogansville,” Scott said. “I mean it’s pretty cool. I am very sentimental so I just feel like this is going to be awesome to be here, be able to help the community and reach out to people.”

Scott said she’s always been a big thrift shopper and that it inspired her to open her own.

“I have four children and I love finding a good deal,” Scott said. “I love being able to search for those deals. I love encouraging people and meeting new people so what better way to do that than have a store front.”

Scott said having a thrift shop that also holds like new, upscale and affordable boutique items will be good for Hogansville.

“Especially with the children items, it will be really great for this area,” Scott said.

Scott hopes to be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody through her shop and photography.

The shop/studio is located on 300 East Main Street and open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. They will also be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Photography shoots are by appointment only.
