Mrs. Della Mae Boyd, 93, of Smyrna, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She was born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 21, 1926 to Clarence Gerome Evans and Emma Beatrice Perry Evans.

Mrs. Boyd lived a very authentic life in service to others. She took pride in the fact that she supported the war effort by working as a “Rosie the Riveter” at the Bell Bomber Plant. Later, she worked at J C Penney in various capacities, one being the toy department manager during the Christmas season. Mrs. Boyd enthusiastically shared her artistic skills with others through her teaching of basket weaving, pine needle basket making, and needle arts.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by husband Ollie Webster Boyd, SR, son Ollie Webster Boyd, JR, and brother Joel Hood Evans. Surviving are her daughters Emma Sue Boyd (Ron) Chipman of Forsyth, Patricia Boyd (Mike) Mosgovoy of Smyrna, grandchildren Tracy (Neil) Awbrey, Julie (Rett) Moncrief, Kelly (Ryan) McGrath, Brian Chipman, Emily (Gerami) Henson, Charlie Boyd (Erin McGinnis), Cristy (Corey) NaLampoon, Tyler (Sarah) Boyd, great grandchildren Eli, Sam, Asa, Jake, and Bennett Awbrey, Trey and Emma Grace Moncrief, Molly, Ava, and Jack McGrath, Carson and Cooper Chipman, Michael and Matt Henson, Brandon and Karlie Boyd, Wynn and James NaLampoon, Hailey and Ella Boyd, and other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 202,0 at the Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna, with social distancing practices in place. There will be a private family service at 3 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020, at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.
