Tommie Lou Vaughan Steele 

1922-2020

Mrs. Tommie Lou Vaughan Steele, 98, of LaGrange made her heavenly flight on Aug. 10, 2020.  Mrs. Steele was born on Feb. 21, 1922, in Heard County, Georgia, to the late James Henderson Vaughan and Mary Lee Bailey Vaughan. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who deeply cared for the needs of her family.  Mrs. Steele was a faithful member of Baptist Tabernacle.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah H. Steele; children, Richard Scott Steele, Melinda Ann Steele and Aliska Steele Baker; grandchildren, Shane Nave and Terry Baker, Jr.; siblings, Mosley Vaughan, Pearce Vaughan, Quillan Vaughan, Pauline Adams and Mary Steele; son-in-law, Doyal Smith.  Survivors include her children, Sandra Cornwell (Hugh), Thomas Steele (Ange), Elaine Nave (Eddie), Jack Steele (Jo), James Steele and Jennifer Kaye Steele; 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Jimmy McMillian and Rev. Sid Shelnutt officiating.  Interment will follow at the Centralhatchee Baptist Church Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Thursday evening, Aug. 13, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Baptist Tabernacle.
