A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing an ambulance from the parking bay at the emergency room of WellStar West Georgia Medical Center Saturday night around 10:45 p.m.

Aleisha Charlene Koone, 48, was arrested and charged with theft by taking (motor vehicle), criminal damage to property second degree and obstruction of officers, according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.

The LPD was responding to 1514 Vernon Road, the address for WGMC, when Officer Megan Keith located the female driving the ambulance Eastbound on Vernon Road near the intersection of Park Avenue, according to the LPD.

A traffic stop was initiated on the van and Koone exited the vehicle and fled a short distance on foot before being taken into custody.
