LaGrange High’s softball team opened its Region 2-AAAA schedule with a 7-1 road win over Columbus on Tuesday.

LaGrange pushed two runs across in the top of the first inning, and that was enough support for senior pitcher Camden Smith, who tossed a complete-game six-hitter.

Offensively, LaGrange pounded out 13 hits, including four that went for extra bases.

Malone Aldridge had a big day with two hits, including a triple and a double, and she scored three runs.

Jacee Marable added three hits with a double, and she had three RBIs.

Leadoff hitter Abby Vanhoose added two hits and two RBIs with two runs scored, Camden Smith had a hit and two RBIs, Kirsten Williams had a double, and Madison Dennis, Kaylee Bryant and Mariana Ceja each had a hit.

LaGrange (3-1) will be at home the next two days for games against non-region opponents.

After facing Bowdon on Wednesday, LaGrange hosts Central-Carroll on Thursday in a rematch of last year’s Region 5-AAAA championship series.
