When the LaGrange High softball team fell to Harris County last week, it struggled to find any offensive success in the shutout loss.

It was a different story on Wednesday, with LaGrange banging out 10 hits on the way to a 6-0 home win over Bowdon in a game that was shortened to five innings because of lightning.

Junior catcher Holly Lynn provided some lightning of her

with a mammoth home run that cleared the center-field fence with room to spare, and Camden Smith got the job done on the mound with a one-hit shutout.

“We hit the ball really well,” said LaGrange head coach Gabby Heath. “We didn’t have a very good approach when we played Harris County, so we really talked about that at practice and worked on it.”

Lynn did a lot of the damage for LaGrange.

In addition to her two-run home run in the fifth inning, Lynn also had a double while reaching on a walk.

“She’s really worked hard and has grown tremendously over the past three months in terms of her hitting,” Heath said.

LaGrange scored single runs in each of the first four innings before capping the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Leadoff hitter Abby Vanhoose excelled at the plate as well with two hits and an RBI, Smith had an RBI single, Malone Aldridge had two hits including a triple, Madison Dennis and Kaylee Bryant each had a hit, and Jacee Marable had an RBI.

That was more than enough support for Smith, a senior who continues to mow down opposing lineups, something she’s been doing since the first game of her freshman season.

Smith tossed a five-inning, one-hit shutout, and she had six strikeouts and no walks.

LaGrange (3-1) is scheduled to host Central-Carroll on Thursday in a rematch of last year’s Region 5-AAAA championship series.
