The LaGrange Police Department is looking for a suspect involved in a shooting on Alton Drive just after midnight Saturday.

According to a press release from LPD, officers arrived to 100 block of Alton Drive where they discovered a victim in the driveway with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and abdomen area.

Sgt. Mark Cavendar said that when officers arrived on scene the victim and a female also living in the home were in their car preparing to leave for the emergency room.

According to the press release, several shots were fired and a suspect had been seen running from the location.

“Apparently there was a knock at the door and the victim answered it, and we are pretty certain the shooting happened immediately,” Cavendar said. “When officers arrived, the victim was not coherent enough to provide information.”

According to Cavendar, the female resident was in the home during the time of the shooting but in a different room and was uninjured.

The LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section responded to conduct an investigation.

AMR responded to treat the victim, who was later flown to an Atlanta regional hospital. Cavendar said as of Sunday the victim was still sedated after undergoing a surgery related to the shooting.

“We have no information whether he was in a vehicle or not,” Cavendar said. “Only the victim saw the suspect.”

The suspect was described as a black male, wearing all black clothing. If anyone has any information about this incident, contact LPD at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
