The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery from Sunday at Camp Bait and Tackle on Vernon Road. According to TCSO, officers arrived on scene around 11:30 a.m. and spoke with two victims who said that two unknown black males entered the store, one wearing all black and a “COVID-19 style mask.”

The victims said one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded the keys to the register and lottery machines. After receiving only a small amount of cash, the male became angry and forced the victims into an office in the store while the second male began grabbing cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The victims told police that they were only in the office for approximately four minutes before they heard the suspects exit the store. At that point, they opened the door and called 911.

TCSO said the the suspects’ vehicle was a black SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, with a tag that had been painted black and tinted windows. The second suspect was described as a black male, about 6-foot-tall wearing a green shirt and blue jeans.

There were no injuries reported in this incident.
