Betty Gean Andrews Smith

1940-2020

Betty Gean Andrews Smith passed away Wednesday. She was born Aug. 7, 1940, in Harris County, Georgia, to the late John and Lillie (Davidson) Andrews.

She attended Harris County Schools until moving to LaGrange to start her new life in the city. 

She united with Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

During Betty’s vibrant years, she was a dedicated employee for numerous companies. Survivors include her husband, Emerson Smith; two daughters, Morrissey Marie (Gary) Whitfield, Sequita (Tony) Freeman; one son, Caribe (Mealisa) Smith; two daughters by marriage: Annie Mae (Chauncey) Smith (LaGrange) and Tammie Hansford (Miami, Florida); six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Synella Barber (West Point, Georgia); Wille Joe (Teresa) Andrews (LaGrange) and Fred (Selena) Andrews (Marietta, Georgia); two sisters-in-law, Bessie Bridges (Buena Vista, Georgia) and Virginia Ray Andrews (LaGrange); brothers-in-law Willie Robert Smith (Hamilton, Georgia) and Lester Smith (Pine Mountain, Georgia); a special big brother Alton Mattox and god-son Renard Mattox (Warner Robins, Georgia); two adopted sons Joe (Shirley) Cameron, Dwayne (Theisha) Gunn; one adopted daughter Candiance Bray; a special friend and companion Elaine (Jack) Harris; and, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her Smith Chapel UMC Family. The visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m.; the service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
