Gary Lovvorn
1945-2020

Gary Lovvorn, 74, was set free from this world and met his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sept. 9, 2020 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Gary was born in Bowdon, Georgia, on Sept. 12, 1945, to the late Horace and Shirley Lovvorn. He is survived by his wife, Theresa and together they enjoyed a long and happy marriage of almost 42 years.
Gary had a family that he loved and who were the biggest joy of his life. His children include Stacy (Norma), Greg (Serina) and David Lovvorn, Al Best (Kirstin) and Jennifer Bowers, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Extended family includes five brothers, one sister and a host of nieces and nephews.
Gary enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to laugh, joke and always look for the best in people and circumstances. He enjoyed, fishing, hunting, cooking, traveling and anything that included his grandchildren.
One of the things Gary enjoyed the most was the study of God’s word. He obtained an Associate’s Degree of Theology in 2016, a Bachelor of Theology in 2017, and a 5th year diploma in 2018, all from Titus Baptist Seminary of LaGrange and he is the only person to date to have completed every course offered at Titus at the time he was attending. Gary was well known for his ability to drive large trucks and to do master level woodwork. He used these skills to the fullest as he served many years as a member of Faith Baptist Church of LaGrange.Gary also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Gary made a statement to his family a couple of days before his death that he “really wanted to be home” for his birthday. We believe God honored that request.
A time of visitation with the family and friends will be held on his birthday, Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 for 1 to 3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church located at 552 Hammett Road in LaGrange, Georgia, with a celebration of life service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Children’s Ministry of Faith Baptist Church.
