The search for a missing local woman continues with little answers, but an event on Saturday hopes to bring more awareness to her disappearance. 

Natalie Jones has missing since July and her family will host an awareness ride Saturday.

Ashley Smith, a relative of Jones, said they plan to have pink lights on every car that takes part in the ride.

“My brother came up with this idea,” Smith said. “It’ll be close to dark and draw a lot of attention with pink lights on a ton of cars. Natalie just loved pink so much, and it was her thing. It was her favorite color.”

Cars can begin lining up in the Big Lots parking lot at 6 p.m. The ride will begin at 7 p.m. and will head to the square in Franklin, Georgia. A candlelight vigil will follow at the square in Franklin when cars arrive. 

“You can get lights that plug into your cigarette lighter in the car or find some really good ones on Amazon that are a little more elaborate,” Smith said. “We are really excited about this, and we will have a police escort for the ride as well.”

Jones, formerly Natalie Sheppard, 27, was last seen on July 5, around 1 a.m. near Jackson’s Gap, Alabama, wearing a pink blouse with white shorts and black sandals with a bow, according to the Heard County Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, on Saturday morning, Sleep in Heavenly Peace is hosting its second annual community wide build day to help build beds for children in the community who currently sleep on the floor.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Sweetland Amphitheater and go until noon. 

Bunks Across America (BAA 2020) is SHP’s annual national Build Day on Sept. 26 that unites communities all across the country to end child bedlessness.

Those looking to enjoy a beginner/intermediate one hour yoga practice and short meditation can attend Yoga in the Vines at Nutwood Winery Saturday morning at 10 a.m.. This event is $10 on the day of the event, or a discounted rate of $8 if you pre-pay via Venmo to @Kristina-Moore-49.

Moore asks that you bring your own mat and any other props you enjoy for the practice, such as blocks or straps. However, only the mat is necessary for the practice.

Abbotsford Farm will kick off its pumpkin patch this Saturday, Sept. 26, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm has a variety of pumpkins as well as pumpkin bread, pumpkin rolls, cookies and fresh made pork rinds for sale. The pumpkin patch will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. every Saturday through Halloween.

The farm is located on 410 Abbottsford Road in LaGrange.
