The Callaway High softball team wrapped up its regular season with a 4-1 loss to Brookstone on Thursday.

Next up for Callaway will be the Region 5-AA tournament that will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at Heard County.

Callaway, the number four seed, will face top-seeded Heard County on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

If Callaway beats Heard County, it will play for the region championship on Thursday at 7 p.m. against either Haralson County or Bremen.

If Callaway loses to Heard County, it will play Haralson County or Bremen for third place at 5 p.m.

Regardless of what happens in the region tournament, Callaway has already qualified for the state playoffs.

The top-two finishers in the region tournament will host a first-round series in the state playoffs, while the third-place and fourth-place teams will be on the road.

In Thursday’s game, Callaway tied it with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Brookstone reclaimed the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Ava Shuford hit a solo home run for Callaway in the fourth inning, and Alora Vetsavong also had a hit.

Faith Horton pitched a complete game for Callaway.
