The LaGrange Academy softball team surged past First Presbyterian on Thursday to earn a spot in the GISA Class A state-championship series.

After winning the first game 16-0, LaGrange Academy finished the sweep with an 18-0 win.

LaGrange Academy will be in Dublin on Thursday as it looks to win a second consecutive state title.

In the first game on Thursday, senior Amber Corley pitched a three-inning no-hitter while striking out seven batters.

Corley also got it done at the plate with three hits, including two doubles, and she had two RBIs.

Leadoff hitter Carolyn Lehman had two hits, including a double, and she had two RBIs, and McKenzie Jones walked twice and had an RBI.

Kayla McBride and Lanie Lackey also walked twice, and Caley Worsley, Morgan Bartlett and Kelsey Cotton each walked once.

Lackey handled the pitching duties in the second game, and she threw a three-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts.

Corley had three hits with a double and two RBIs, and Jones also had three hits while driving in two runs.

Lehman had a hit and two RBIs, and she also walked twice, and Natalee Waddell had had two hits with a double and an RBI.

Morgan Bartlett had a hit and two RBIs with two walks, Lexi Franklin had a double, Lackey had a hit and an RBI, and McBride had a hit.
