Johnny McCurry, 75, of LaGrange passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Johnny was born Sept. 13, 1945. He was the son of the late Rivers and Louise McCurry.

Johnny spent his working career serving in different capacities of Law Enforcement which included: LaGrange Police Department and Columbus Police Department; served as the Chief of Police for the Richland Police Department, Montezuma Police Department, and West Point Police Department. He also served as the Chief Investigator for the Georgia Department of Corrections Internal Affairs Division before retiring. Johnny was past president and a life member of the Georgia Chiefs Association.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie McCurry; son and daughter in law, Lee and Susan McCurry; grandchildren, Garrett McCurry and Brett McCurry; sister and brother in law Sandra and Nathan Chitty; and nephew, Nathan Chitty.

Due to COVID-19, the family will have a memorial display in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Dec. 11, 2020 from 12-5 p.m. for anyone that would like to come by and sign the register book and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes, 2048 Youngs Mill Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30241 or to the American Heart Association.
