Mr. Herbert Clyde Barnes, 89, of LaGrange, passed away on Dec. 15, 2020.  Mr. Barnes was born on Aug. 6, 1931 in LaGrange to the late James Otis Barnes, Sr. and Ethel Lee Shirey Barnes.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Mr. Barnes was an old world craftsman that found great joy in repairing and restoring old clocks, guns, and knives.  Many of these he shared with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Martha Lavelle Denney Barnes; sons, David Barnes (Shannon); daughters, Vicki Lanier and Mona Lucretia Wynn (Mark); six grandchildren by birth and numerous others claimed as grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren by birth and many more that were a part of his family; extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand with Rev. Randy Nix officiating.  Interment to follow at Meadoway Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
