A 13-run, second-inning outburst powered the Lafayette Christian School Cougars to an 18-3 home win over Griffin Christian on Thursday at the Harris Baseball Complex.

Griffin Christian seemed to have some momentum after scoring three runs in the top of the second to tie it at 3-3, but Lafayette Christian busted it open in the bottom of the second, with home runs by Cason Firth and Nathan Karvelas putting the wraps on the 13-run inning.

The Cougars (3-1) scored two

more runs in the bottom of the third inning, and the game ended at that point because of the run rule.

Firth helped lead the Lafayette Christian offensive attack with a home run and a double, and he had four RBIs and three runs scored.

Karvelas had two hits with two RBIs, and he had a solo home run in the second inning.

Tanner Jackson had two hits with a double and three RBIs, and Landon Bush had two hits and two RBIs.

Jacob Karvelas had two hits with three runs scored, Whit Bowden and Paul Batastini each had a hit and an RBI, and Braden Firth and Adam Barnett each had a base hit.

Nathan Karvelas pitched the three-inning complete game to get the win.
