Lynda Sue Byrd Young, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital surrounded by the love of her daughters.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1946, in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Willie John Byrd and Frances Moore Byrd. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1964.

Lynda spent many years as a homemaker, taking care of her daughters by volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader & Cookie Mom, Room Mom, Field Trip Chaperone and anywhere else she was needed. Later in life, she managed the Fashion Care Dry Cleaners in Peachtree City for a number of years. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and supporting her granddaughters in all of their passions.

Along with her parents, Lynda is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Mike Byrd. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kristie Young Johns and her husband Tim, Kelly Young Clute and her husband Jason. She is also survived by grandchildren, Alexandra Johns and Bridget Clute; her brother Richard Byrd and his wife Peggy; her nephews Mike Byrd and Casey Byrd and his wife Angie; her beloved cousin and best friend Gloria Sievert and her husband Wayne, as well as a number of special cousins. Family was everything to Lynda, and she loved them all deeply.

A graveside service (following COVID guidelines) celebrating Lynda’s life will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 96 Jefferson Street, in Newnan. A viewing will be held at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. that same day. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Lynda’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at give.cff.org/tribute/Lynda.
