The Troup Tigers, two days after seeing their six-game winning streak end, overwhelmed Fayette County 17-0 on Wednesday to improve to 8-2.

Brett Haynes was one of the stars for Troup.

Haynes not only pitched three scoreless innings to get the win, but he also hit a home run to help lead the offensive effort.

Haynes started and only allowed one hit while striking out four during his three innings on the mound, and Tripp Cummings and Josh McDonald each threw one shutout inning.

Haynes had a home run and three RBIs, Nick Philpot and Reed Morris each had a double and an RBI, Ethan Morton had two hits with a double, McDonald and Will Noles each had one RBI, and Mason Atkinson had a hit.

Troup will play at Fayette County again on Friday before opening its Region 2-AAAA schedule on Monday at Hardaway.
