Red-hot Tigers secure road win

The surging Troup Tigers improved to 9-2 with an 11-1 road win over Fayette County on Friday.

Troup, which has won eight of its past nine games, will play a home game on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Hampton before making the transition to Region 2-AAAA play next week.

In Friday’s game, the Tigers pounded out 15 hits, and they scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to put it away.

Brett Haynes had three hits with a double and two RBIs, and Devon Murphy had three hits with a triple while driving in two runs, and he scored four runs.

Colton Webb had two hits with a double and one RBI, Ethan Morton had two hits with two runs scored, and Tre Mosley had two hits and an RBI.

Reed Morris had a hit and an RBI, Hunter Kitchens had one RBI, and Mason Atkinson had a hit.

Webb started for Troup and pitched two innings while allowing one run, and Tripp Cummings threw three scoreless innings while striking out seven batters.

Ethan Morton and Rocky Pemperton each pitched a scoreless inning to finish it.
