UPDATED: Two die in wrong way collision on I-85

Two men are dead following a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver Tuesday morning on Interstate 85, according to Georgia State Patrol.

According to Brian Harman with GSP, at approximately 2:30 a.m. a 2015 Nissan Titan pickup truck was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-85 and hit a 2008 Dodge Caravan head-on.

Each vehicle only had one occupant. Both drivers died on scene.

The accident occurred near mile marker 24.

The driver of the truck was identified as William Walker, 47, of Newnan. Coroner Erin Hackley said the driver of the Dodge Caravan is from Florida, but his name is not being released yet pending family notification

The interstate was shut down until 5:45 a.m., Harman said.
