LaGrange First United Methodist Church held its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning in the big field beside the church.

If you’d been thrown into 2021 without knowing about anything about 2020, it would’ve been just another egg hunt, though we’re sure the masks would’ve been confusing. However, we all know what 2020 was like, and events like this couldn’t happen last year.

We’re sure many planned egg hunts last year, only to see plans scrapped when coronavirus became a pandemic.

Thankfully, this type of event can take place in 2021 with what we now know about COVID-19, and the rate of vaccinations increasing. (Roughly 11 percent of Georgia residents are fully vaccinated, per the New York Times.)

Safety precautions still have to be in place — such as wearing masks — and they were.

The event went quickly, with kids being as socially distanced as you’d expect while running around chasing eggs and candy, and was a welcome sight.

From the smallest kids looking around confused, to the biggest kids racing and jumping to get as many eggs as possible, it was a really fun event to watch.

We appreciate the church for again taking on this event and for opening it up for all in the community to participate.
