The Troup Tigers ran their winning streak to 11 games with a doubleheader sweep of an overmatched Kendrick squad on Monday.

Troup (19-2 overall) improved to 8-0 in Region 2-AAAA with the 15-0 and 17-0 home wins, and both games ended after three innings.

With the usual starters taking the day off, Troup’s backup players got an opportunity to play, and they produced in a big way for a team that hasn’t lost since the first day of March.

“We got a lot of guys in who hadn’t played all year, and JV guys, and they did really good, and we got it behind us, and we’re happy to be 19-2,” said LaGrange head coach Tanner Glisson.

One of the players who got a chance to play was senior Nic Philpot, and he made the most of his time.

Philpot had a double and three RBIs in the first game, and he had an inside-the-park home run with the bases loaded in the second game to drive in four runs.

“I was ready to come out hit, enjoy my time with my teammates, and keep winning,” Philpot said.

In game one, the Tigers only had four hits, but they walked eight times, and they were hit by a pitch seven times.

Philpot had a double and three RBIs, Andrew Townsend had a double and two RBIS, Will Noles had a double and an RBI, Dwartney Wortham had a hit, two walks and three runs scored, Steven Davis had two RBIs, and Will Keeter walked twice.

Noles and Rocky Pemberton were each hit by a hit twice, and Keeter, Philpot and Dylan Stotsky also got hit by pitches.

Ethan Morton pitched the three-inning perfect game, and he struck out eight of the nine batters he faced.

In the second game, Philpot’s grand slam in the second inning was part of a 17-run outburst.

Noles also hit an inside-the-park home run to drive in two runs, and he added a triple.

Cole Cummings had a hit and two RBIs, Pemberton had a double and an RBI, Keeter walked three times and scored three runs, and Wortham walked twice and scored two runs.

Colton Webb pitched a three-inning perfect game, and he struck out all nine batters he faced.

Troup finishes the week with road games against Woodward Academy on Friday and Glenwood School on Saturday.
