PINE MOUNTAIN – Day one is in the books.

The three-day LaGrange Toyota Granger Classic kicked off on a picture-perfect Thursday afternoon, with dozens of players taking on the 18 holes of the Lake View golf course at Callaway Gardens

The tournament continues on Friday, with the scene shifting to the Mountain View course at Callaway Gardens.

On Saturday, the top four teams in each of the two flights will get together at Callaway Gardens for the match-play portion of the tournament.

Among the participating teams are the host LaGrange Grangers, and they had a team score of 353.

Jackson Dennis and Ben Woodham each shot an 85 to lead LaGrange, Tripp Hollstrom carded an 89, and Rivers Partin shot a 94 to complete the scoring for LaGrange.

Also playing for LaGrange was Ty Ormsby, and he shot a 96.

The first-round leader was North Oconee, which posted a 283, with Luke Jarvis and Eli Rogers leading the way after each shooting a 69.

In second place is Johns Creek, which had four individual scores of 71 or better to record a 284, and Carrollton is in third place with a 293.

The top individual player on Thursday was Etowah’s Noah Bauer, who shot a 5-under par 67 while leading his team to a 298.

In second place after shooting 69s are Rome’s Hogan Ingram, as well as Jarvis and Rogers of North Oconee.

A trio of Johns Creek golfers, Deven Patel, Bruce Murphy and Taiki Miyagi, shot 70s and they’re tied for fifth along with Kyle Bachkosky of Starr’s Mill.
