The Callaway Cavaliers split a doubleheader with Heard County on Tuesday to finish their Region 5-AA schedule.

Callaway won the first game 7-3, and Heard County bounced back to win the second game 6-5.

Callaway (17-8 overall) finished second in the region with an 8-4 record, and it will host Banks County next week in the first round of the state playoffs.

Callaway will finish the regular season with a game at Northside-Columbus on Friday.

Bremen won the region championship with an 11-1 record, and Callaway, Haralson County and Heard County will be the region’s other state-playoff teams.

Callaway advanced to the state semifinals in 2018 and 2019, and the 2020 state playoffs were canceled because of COVID-19.
