After her courageous battle with cancer, Wendy Whitmore Hume, age 59, of Canton, MS went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2021.

Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Whitmore.

She is survived by her husband, David Hume; her mother, Phyllis Dickinson Whitmore; her brother, Mark (Dorothy) Whitmore; sister, Cheryl (Phil) Whitmore-Conrad; mother-in-law, Dean (Robert) Alexander; sister-in-laws, Janice (Stuart) Stephens) and Cheryl (Alan) Sticher; brother-in-law, Cy Hume; daughters, Dawn (Jake) Blackwell and Kim (Jason) Jones; and grandchildren, Collin, Zach, Lily and Wyatt.

Wendy was a strong Christian woman who accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and served the Lord whole-heartedly. She worshipped at Grace Crossing where she was very active. She enjoyed singing in the choir and led Sunday School classes. She also served on a mission trip to Haiti.

In her free time, Wendy enjoyed baking for others and knitting. She also traveled many places throughout her life including Hawaii, Australia, and Jamaica. Wendy was spirited in her pursuit of adventure – even jumping out of an airplane once.

Wendy had a challenging battle with cancer, but persevered through the pain with uplifting spirits and positivity for others.

She always put others first and pushed through the unknown.

She is now finally able to rest at peace and shall suffer no more.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Crossing Baptist Church’s Next Steps Building fund in her name.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021. at 2 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
