On Thursday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., West Georgia Technical College will host a job fair in the WGTC Callaway Conference Center at 220 Fort Drive in LaGrange. Job seekers are asked to wear masks and bring copies of their resumes, certifications, and letters of recommendation to give to potential employers.
Employers at the job fair will include Hyundai Transys Powertrain, Duracell, Troup County Fire Department, Wellstar Health System, Milliken, Cargill, Badcock Home Furniture & more, Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Inc., and others.
Employers had to pay a registration fee of $100 per booth, according to Leigh Newman, executive director of economic development at the college. She explained that the money went toward job training for graduating high school students who were taught forklift operator safety and went through OSHA 10.
“So we’re a cost-recovery division of the school, so we have to generate money to cover all of our costs,” Newman said.
Newman said that “anybody that’s serious about getting a job” is invited to the event and said attendees should dress professionally.
