Mr. Joe Timothy Parmer, 52, of LaGrange, passed away on May 29, 2021.  Joe was born on June 1, 1968, in LaGrange to John Wesley “J.W.” Parmer and Betty Sue Culpepper Parmer.  His father preceded him in death as well as his grandparents, Curtis M. Culpepper, Mable Maxwell Culpepper, Charles M. Parmer and Martha Driver Parmer. 

A life-long resident of LaGrange, he worked in the family business, Parmer Brothers Grocery for many years and most recently was the Assistant Customer Service Manager at the LaGrange Publix.  He was a member of the Rosemont Baptist Church.  In addition to his career and his church, Joe’s greatest joy was family.  He loved his children beyond measure. Joe was a blessing to everyone he met and always had a smile on his face.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cindy Patrick Parmer; children, Emma Frances Parmer, Lily Grace Parmer and Jackson Grant Parmer; brothers, Randall Wesley Parmer and his wife, Jill Jackson Parmer, Kenneth Allen Parmer and his wife, Pam Crow Parmer and John Philip Parmer and his wife, Wendy Willis Parmer; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. 

A celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 4 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand with the Rev. Max McCord officiating.  Family received friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m.

Breaking with tradition, as he did many times, and to honor Joe’s request, please wear bright, uplifting colors to his celebration.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to an Education Fund that is being established for his children.
