The Hyundai Mobis plant in West Point, Georgia plans to hire approximately 150 people, according to general manager of human resources and team relations Lavon Stough. About 45 to 50 people will be hired as replacements, and just under 100 will be hired for new assembly and quality inspection positions.

Stough said that the plant will be building a new model, but the primary reason for the hiring surge is that Kia is increasing its production.

The plant is offering a base pay rate of $13.85 per hour, according to a flyer. Pay increases every six months for the first 36 months to $19.55.

The plant is looking for hires with good manual dexterity and the ability to lift at least 25 to 30 pounds. No high school diploma, college degree, or previous experience is required. Training is offered on the job. However, applicants must pass a post-offer physical exam and a drug screening in addition to a background check.

Stough said the positions offer health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, disability insurance, a 401k with a match, 14 paid holidays, three sick days, and 10 vacation days prorated for the first year.

The plant also offers tuition reimbursement.

The plant is offering a $1,500 sign-on award to new hires.

“They will be paid $400 at the end of 90 days, and then they will be paid $500 in six months, and after 12 months, they will be paid $600. So, it’s a total of $1,500 over one year,” Stough said.
