Downtown LaGrange Development Authority will hold its annual patriotic community event on Friday, July 2 at Sweetland Amphitheatre, according to a press release from Downtown LaGrange Development Authority. Gates will open at 7:00 p.m.

First, under the direction of Neal Brumbeloe, 50 members of the LaGrange Community Band will perform patriotic music on the Sweetland stage starting at 8 p.m. After the concert, “The Secret Life of Pets 2” will be shown on a large outdoor screen.

Sunsets at Sweetland events like this are free, and guests may hold picnics with outside food and beverages. Local vendors Holloway’s Pork Skins, Crave Cookies and the King of Pops will be present selling snacks, according to director of promotions and marketing Barbie Watts.

Guests are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue apparel.

A limited number of stage-side tables are available. To reserve one, contact Watts at 706-298-4534. Those at the best decorated table will receive a prize.

“We haven’t done anything since the pandemic started, and we’ve all been looking forward to playing somewhere, some time,” Brumbeloe said. “So the whole band is looking forward to doing this, because we missed being together for all that year, so we’re really looking forward to the program on Friday.”
