The millage rate for Troup County will remain unchanged at 11.310 mills as it has since 2016, according to documents provided by the Troup County Board of Commissioners.

The Troup County Commission held a public hearing Tuesday for citizens to come forward to discuss the rate. No citizens came forward.

The board will hold a meeting next Tuesday, July 13, at 9 a.m. to vote on and finalize the millage rate for the county.

The Troup County School System held a special board meeting Tuesday as well to receive public comment and vote on its millage rate for calendar year 2021. No public comments were received at the meeting.

TCSS proposed that the current rate of 18.85 mils remain at the same rate as it has since 2005.

According to information provided by TCSS, the total local property tax digest has increased and the state requires notices to indicate the increase. The calculated rate increased by 1.32 percent.

If the assessed value of a resident’s property remains the same as the previous year, then they will not see a change in taxes for school purposes if the rate stays at 18.85.
